Here's are some of the causes our fundraising efforts support:
We own and maintain a six acre community park with a pond for fishing. The park and its pavilion are located at Old Hanover Road and Littlestown Pike in Union Mills. Anyone may reserve the pavilion for their special event. A donation to the club is requested.
To reserve the park for your family reunion or club event, please contact Ron Stonesifer at 410-346-7721.
We fund two scholarships of $1,000 each to graduating high school students in the Meyers voting district. For more information on our scholarships and to download the application click on the SCHOLARSHIP tab.
We maintain a section of Route 97 North as part of the Adopt-A-Highway program, doing regular trash pickups and making our community a cleaner place to live.
We assist and support the blind and those with vision problems through regular donations to various programs, both through Lions International, and independently.
We are a partner with Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Members have been trained to do vision screenings, set up each year to detect the onset of vision problems in children as young as preschool. Catching these problems early in life can prevent the progression of certain vision problems.
We help defray the cost of eye exams and glasses for those needing assistance within our community.
We collect used eyeglasses to be refurbished and sent to third world countries to help those who would otherwise not have access to correctional lenses.
We donate money to numerous community causes, supporting our youth, the elderly, and the community in general.
We provide wheel chairs, hospital beds and other medical equipment to needy local families within our community, as needed.
If you are in the Silver Run/ Union Mills area and need hospital equipment, please call Dan Szymanski at 443-293-7811 or Chuck Dorsey at 410-346-7078.
